We are dedicated to the compliance of these standards in our continuing effort to ensure safety and quality of care for all our patients.
Our practice is dedicated to the prevention of colon cancer.
Everyone at or over the age of 50, without any risk factors for polyps and cancer, should have a screening colonoscopy. Fifty is the age when people are at an increased risk for starting to develop precancerous colon polyps that can lead to colon cancer. If you have risk factors for colon cancer, it is recommended earlier and more frequently. Polyps are relatively common. In fact, 50% of patients older than 60 years of age have polyps. Although this percentage may not seem alarming, routine colon cancer screening can catch polyps early and prevent cancer from developing. You may not experience symptoms of colon polyps or cancer until the disease has advanced, so it’s always better to remove polyps before they turn into cancer.
